Sometimes the helicopter is going anyway.
When we are already flying a leg, the empty seats go cheaply. Same aircraft, same pilot, same island. They are released at short notice and they do not last, which is the whole reason to take one the moment you see it.
Nobody puts the people they love in a helicopter without wondering.
So here is exactly who does what, in plain words, with nothing dressed up. The full document is linked at the bottom and says the same thing at greater length.
Who flies the aircraft
Vantage plans your day and is who you talk to from the first message to the last landing. The flying itself is done by a certified operating partner, named in our Terms.
They hold the Air Operator's Certificate, which is the approval the Civil Aviation Safety Authority issues to a company before it may carry passengers commercially. Holding it makes them responsible for the aircraft, the crew and the conduct of your flight, under an approved safety management system.
Who looks after the aircraft
The Robinson R44 and the Airbus AS350 are maintained in accordance with the manufacturers' maintenance manuals and schedules, and released back to service by a licensed engineer.
Each aircraft is inspected before the first flight of the day, and again between flights when it is required.
What happens when the weather turns
We fly to conservative limits. Low cloud, strong wind, poor visibility or a forecast thunderstorm will delay or cancel a day.
The pilot in command makes that call and it is final. If we cancel, you choose a new date or take a full refund of everything paid, however late we make that call. Cancelling is a normal part of flying safely in south-east Queensland, not a failure.
If you need us on the day
One number, 0418 878 707, and it reaches the person who planned your day rather than a queue. Before the flight, on the morning of it, and while you are out there.
If you need to cancel
More than forty-eight hours before departure, everything you have paid is refunded in full, or we move you to another date at no charge.
Between twenty-four and forty-eight hours, the deposit is kept and the balance is refunded. By that point the aircraft is committed and the venue is usually booked in your name.
Inside twenty-four hours there is no refund, and the same applies if you do not arrive. We would far rather move your date than keep your money, so ask us about a new day first. Where the aircraft and the venue allow it we simply move the booking, at no charge.

Questions
How do I book?
Pick a tour, choose your date, guests and pickup, then send a request with a refundable deposit. We confirm availability, then take the balance.
Is my deposit refundable?
If we can't fulfil your request, or weather stops the flight, you get everything back, whatever the notice. If you cancel: more than 48 hours out is a full refund, 24 to 48 hours keeps the deposit, and inside 24 hours there is no refund. Ask about moving your date first. We would rather reschedule than keep your money.
Can I cancel a seat I bought on someone else's flight?
No. Seats are final, because the host's price dropped the moment you bought it and we won't raise it back on them. If the flight itself is cancelled you're refunded in full.
Where do you fly from?
Archerfield Airport in Brisbane, and Gold Coast Airport at Coolangatta. We can also collect you from other points along the way. Any difference in price is shown before you book.
What happens in bad weather?
Safety comes first. If conditions aren't suitable we'll reschedule or refund, so you're never out of pocket.
How many people can fly?
Up to 5 on the AS350 and up to 3 on the R44. Larger groups can fly multiple aircraft.
Can I share a flight?
Yes. Open your spare seats when booking. As they sell, the proceeds come off your price, so you pay less. If none sell, you simply pay the original charter price.
